Bulls rumors: Jerry Stackhouse on radar after exiting Steve Kerr’s Warriors staff
The Chicago Bulls continue to expand their head coaching search, with former Golden State Warriors assistant Jerry Stackhouse emerging as a candidate following his stint under Steve Kerr.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Stackhouse has entered the conversation as Chicago searches for its next head coach during a pivotal offseason for the organization.
Stein reported Wednesday on X, formerly known as Twitter,
“Another name for the Bulls’ coaching search: Jerry Stackhouse, fresh off a stint as a Warriors assistant, has emerged as a candidate in Chicago, sources tell
@JakeLFischer and me.”
The report follows additional updates from Jake Fischer, who noted on Tuesday through The Stein Line that Chicago is continuing to pursue multiple candidates across the league.
“Two more candidates that the Bulls plan to seek permission to interview for Chicago’s coaching search, per sources: Charlotte assistant Lamar Skeeter, and Atlanta assistant Ryan Schmidt,” Fischer wrote.

Stackhouse spent the last two seasons on Kerr’s staff in Golden State from 2024 to 2026 after previously serving as head coach at Vanderbilt. Before entering the college ranks, he also built NBA assistant coaching experience with the Toronto Raptors during the 2015-16 season and the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2018-19 campaign.
Chicago’s coaching search comes amid major organizational changes following a disappointing 31-51 season that ended without a playoff appearance. The franchise recently hired Bryson Graham to oversee basketball operations after moving on from longtime executive Artūras Karnišovas. Former head coach Billy Donovan also departed the organization earlier this offseason.
The Bulls are expected to continue evaluating a broad pool of candidates as they attempt to establish a new direction heading into the 2026-27 season. Stackhouse’s experience as both a former NBA player and coach at multiple levels could make him an intriguing option as Chicago reshapes its leadership structure.
