Bucks rumors: 2 NBA Draft trade targets Milwaukee failed to get

The Milwaukee Bucks were able to walk out of the first round of the NBA Draft with two picks, courtesy of the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade that led them to get the No. 13 pick from the Miami Heat. With the No. 1o pick, the Bucks selected Brayden Burries, and at 13, they selected Nate Ament.

The Bucks were apparently active during the first round, as they were trying to land one of the lottery guards, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

“The Milwaukee Bucks were looking to move up,” Siegel said on Clutch Scoops. “They were trying to package Nos. 10 and 13 to move up in the top 6. They really wanted to either get Darius Acuff Jr. or Mikel Brown Jr. Ultimately, the Nets and Kings were not interested in dealing out of that spot whatsoever.

“It became very clear to teams about 48 hours before the first round that these top 10 picks weren’t really going to change much. It would take an absolute haul, and there wasn’t much interest because of the talent that existed in this draft.”

Though the Bucks were not able to come out of the draft with one of the top guards in the class, they still ended up with an all-around guard in Burries, who should help the team immediately. Ament should also be a solid wing player for the Bucks, and he was rumored to have interest from teams in the top 10.

The Bucks may not be done filling out their roster or making moves, as teams have shown interest in Tyler Herro after being acquired in the Antetokounmpo trade.
