Ex-Cowboys star Trevon Diggs gets look from NFC North team

After being released by the Dallas Cowboys, Trevon Diggs took his talents to the Green Bay Packers. Now, as the cornerback looks for his 2026 home, he may remain in the NFC North.

The Detroit Lions hosted Diggs for a tryout over the weekend, via Adam Schefter of ESPN. While no deal is currently signed, the Lions are now well aware of what the cornerback has to offer.

Detroit released fellow defensive back Terrion Arnold earlier in the offseason after he was arrested for kidnapping and robbery. While the team has options in the secondary, it’s clear their eyeing more depth behind DJ Reed. Even if Arnold remained, it wouldn’t be a shock to see the Lions further add to their secondary after finishing 2025 ranked 20th in pass defense, allowing 217.4 yards per game.

In 2021, Diggs was a Pro Bowler and All-Pro after leading the league with 11 interceptions. He earned another Pro Bowl nod a year later with three picks. But his play hasn’t lived up those heights over the years, leading to his release from the Cowboys. Over his nine games between the Cowboys and Packers in 2026, Diggs put up 27 tackles with no pass break ups or interceptions.

Still, the cornerback did appear in Green Bay’s Wild Card matchup. He comes with 67 games of NFL experience overall, with 64 starts. In that time, Diggs has racked up 242 tackles, 63 pass break ups and 20 interceptions. It’s not hard to see why the Lions have shown interest.

But whether they sign Diggs is another story. At the very least, it’s clear Detroit is exploring their cornerback options in the wake of Arnold’s departure.
