George Russell announces engagement to girlfriend as fans left ‘crying’ at wholesome post
George Russell has announced his engagement to his girlfriend Carmen Montero Mundt.
The Mercedes driver took to social media to confirm the news in a wholesome joint post.
Alongside a series of four photos of the couple, they captioned the post with a ring emoji and a silver heart.
Carmen could be seen showing off her engagement ring in one of the snaps attached to the upload.
They also showed off the romantic candlelit dinner setting where Russell popped the question.
The post has already amassed 1.9million likes since it was uploaded on Sunday.
Russell has been dating the businesswoman and influencer for six years, having first met in London through a mutual friend.
Their announcement was met with an emotional reaction from fans as they flooded the comments section.
Underneath the post, one fan wrote: “Congratulations to a fantastic couple!”
Another added: “I’m actually crying I love this ahhhh!”
A third fan also commented: “We finally got the engagement post! I’m crying real tears, look how happy they are.”
Russell and Carmen’s announcement follows Charles Leclerc’s wedding to Alexandra Saint Mleux earlier this year.

It also comes during the Formula 1 season’s summer break following last month’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
The race schedule is set to resume in two weeks’ time at Zandvoort.
Russell will be hoping to claim his eighth career race win at the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday, August 23.
After 11 races this year, he currently sits third in the Drivers’ Championship standings.
The 28-year-old is 59 points adrift of teammate Kimi Antonelli, who leads nearest challenger Lewis Hamilton by 50 points.
Russell has already collected two race wins in 2026, with the most recent coming at the Austrian Grand Prix in June.
However, he is yet to be crowned world champion since making his F1 debut in 2019.
To date, Russell’s best performance in the Drivers’ Championship was fourth both in 2022 and last year.
