Bruce Springsteen’s wife Patti Scialfa in remission after multiple myeloma diagnosis

Almost two years after Bruce Springsteen’s wife Patti Scialfa’s multiple myeloma diagnosis was revealed, The Boss revealed that she is in remission.

Appearing at the annual Pan-Mass Challenge (via People), Springsteen delivered a pre-recorded message and acoustic performance of “Born to Run.”

During his message, The Boss said that his wife “has been living with her multiple myeloma for over eight years, but now, thankfully, she is in remission.”

“It’s our physician who refuses to stop searching and caring, [and] it’s our nurse who sits beside us when we’re scared and always makes our journey just a little bit easier,” The Boss said.

Bruce Springsteen’s wife Patti Scialfa’s multiple myeloma diagnosis

According to Springsteen, Scialfa has been dealing with her multiple myeloma for the better part of a decade. She didn’t reveal it to the world until her appearance in the documentary, Road Diary, which was about Springsteen and the E Street Band’s 2023-25 world tour.

“This affects my immune system, so I have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go,” she said in the documentary. “Every once in a while, I come to a show or two, and I can sing a few songs on stage, and that’s been a treat. That’s the new normal for me right now, and I’m OK with that.”

Scialfa, when able, joins Springsteen and the E Street Band on tour. However, she did not participate in the 2026 Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour. Tom Morello did join the tour as a special guest, though.

The 2026 Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour commenced on Mar. 31 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and concluded on May 30 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Originally, the tour was supposed to conclude in Washington, D.C., on May 27. However, scheduling conflicts with Philadelphia’s 76ers and Flyers caused the show in the City of Brotherly Love to be rescheduled as the new final show.
