Warriors’ Draymond Green joins Klay Thompson’s pile-on after Kevin Durant’s viral 76ers take
Kevin Durant’s comments about the Philadelphia 76ers now having assembled a better roster than what his infamous 2016 move to the Golden State Warriors resulted in has now led to two of his former teammates joining the chat. Klay Thompson initially appeared to question Durant’s take with a comment on his Instagram story, with Warriors veteran Draymond Green now joining the discussion, per a post on X by ClutchPoints.
Green commented on Durant’s recent Threads post, questioning whether KD thought he was online using his burner account.

“Slim thought he was on his burner?” Green wrote.
This comes just days after Thompson appeared to hit back at Durant’s take via his own comment.
“Aye man u good ? @easymoneysniper What u using my full government for??” he had posted.
Durant had initially claimed that the 76ers’ new-look roster is much better than what the Warriors had mustered. He claimed that the presence of two-time MVP Joel Embiid, All-Star Tyrese Maxey, and 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown alongside LeBron James meant that the 76ers were much more stacked. And well, VJ Edgecombe was not even mentioned when he addressed the 76ers’ talent.
Durant compared the situation to a Warriors roster that boasted of two-time MVP Stephen Curry, claiming that Klay Thompson was never an MVP candidate. KD also claimed Draymond Green was merely a 14 ppg, 7-rebound player, claiming that the Warriors simply could not stack up to what Philadelphia will field next season.
Of course, talent alone does not define a team, and a number of stacked rosters in the history of the league have failed to generate the kind of results the Warriors had managed during this era. Durant had joined a team that had just produced a 73-win season, breaking multiple NBA records along the way.
While KD joined a winning team that had already played alongside each other for a number of seasons, the 76ers have a new-look roster that will need to settle down quickly if they are to live up to the expectations. Further, Philadelphia have had very limited playoff success in recent seasons and lost in the Conference semifinals last year after failing to qualify for the playoffs the season before.
Durant appears to be intent on downplaying the 2017 Warriors because of the criticism that is often levied against him for his move from the Thunder. However, the kind of response his own former teammates have come up suggests that there is still some time before this new-look 76ers roster can be compared with arguably the greatest team in NBA history.
