Brewers make Quinn Priester rehab assignment decision

Quinn Priester enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2025, but health factors have denied him a fair chance to build on it in 2026. The young right-hander is battling thoracic outlet syndrome and has yet to pitch this season, as he works his way through a lengthy and presently inauspicious recovery process. His ongoing struggles in Triple-A Nashville are forcing the Milwaukee Brewers to make a tough decision. Priester’s rehab will shift to the Arizona Complex League, per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

This latest setback raises an important question: Will he need surgery to solve this issue once and for all? Time will tell if Priester can reestablish himself as a key component of Milwaukee’s starting pitching rotation, but he can definitely use a change of scenery. The 25-year-old was repeatedly shelled while pitching for the Nashville Sounds. He posted a ghastly 25.71 ERA and 4.29 WHIP in seven innings of work. A reset is clearly required, at the very least.

Priester initially experienced wrist soreness last summer, but the issue was eventually diagnosed as thoracic outlet syndrome. Although the Brewers have exercised patience throughout, fans are becoming increasingly concerned. Two-time reigning National League Manager of the Year Pat Murphy believes the ACL will be beneficial for the 2019 first-round draft pick. However, he also knows how taxing this entire situation has been.

“It’s killing him,” Murphy said about Priester’s stops and starts, according to Rosiak. “He’s such a competitive kid. I think we’ll know in the next month (how it’s trending).”

Quinn Priester will pick himself up and do his best to rediscover his mojo in The Desert. He tallied a 3.32 ERA with 132 strikeouts and 1.239 WHIP in 157 1/3 innings last season.
