Brewers lose pitcher to injured list before Giants game
The Milwaukee Brewers reportedly placed left-handed pitcher Rob Zastryzny on the 15-day injured list due to a left trapezius strain, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. The move is retroactive to May 31. McCalvy also reports that Robert Gasser is expected to start for the Brewers against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night.
Zastryzny, 34, last appeared in an MLB game during the 2025 season. He turned in a strong 2.45 ERA across 26 outings (one start) during the ’25 campaign. Zastryzny was previously on a rehab assignment. Now, he is set to return to the IL.
It is a difficult blow for the Brewers and Zastryzny to say the least. Updates will continue to be monitored and provided on his injury status as they are made available.
Milwaukee currently holds a 2-0 series lead over San Francisco at home. The Brewers most recently defeated the Giants by a final score of 8-3 on Tuesday night.
With the win against the Giants, the ball club improved to 37-21 overall in 2026. The Brewers are focused on winning the National League Central. Milwaukee is currently in first place in the division. They have a 5.5 game lead over the second place Pittsburgh Pirates as of this story’s writing.
On Wednesday, the Giants and Brewers will go head-to-head in the third contest of their four-game series in Milwaukee. The Brewers will attempt to clinch a series victory with a win in the ball game. First pitch for the contest on Wednesday night between the National League ball clubs is scheduled for 7:40 PM EST.
