Bengals QB Joe Burrow’s cheeky take on Trey Hendrickson signing with Ravens will raise eyebrows
The Cincinnati Bengals have had an eventful offseason, recently trading for veteran defensive star Dexter Lawrence, among other big moves. The Bengals are hoping to bounce back after missing out on the playoffs for three straight years from 2023-2025.
One key loss for the Bengals this offseason was star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson, who ended up signing with the divisional rival Baltimore Ravens in free agency.
Recently, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow called the move “Not very surprising,” per Caleb Noe of WCPO 9 on X, formerly Twitter.
“I know Trey. I love Trey. I know how he operates,” added Burrow.
Many thought that the Bengals and Hendrickson would be headed for a divorce prior to the 2025 season, and although they were able to come to terms on a one-year agreement for this past season, it would only prove to be a temporary stopgap, with the star now taking his talents to the DMV.
Meanwhile, the Bengals are still clearly a better defensive team now than they were a year ago thanks to the trade for Lawrence, as well as the signing of safety Bryan Cook, in addition to other key moves they made this offseason.
Cincinnati will be desperately hoping for a healthy season out of Burrow, who is among the game’s elite quarterbacks when healthy, but has dealt with numerous setbacks over the course of his career, including a toe injury suffered in Week 2 last year that kept him out of the lineup for multiple months.
If Burrow can return to his MVP-level form and the defense can take a projected step up this year, it’s not out of the equation that the Bengals could return to contender status in the AFC heading into 2026.
