After the Miami Heat finished with 40 3-point attempts in their 129-105 preseason win over the Toronto Raptors, fans quickly reminded Klay Thompson on social media that he didn’t make any, suggesting he's washed. The future Hall of Fame guard is entering his 16th NBA season. While Thompson is excited to play alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Heat this season, he’s also ignoring the haters.

Thompson addressed his naysayers after the Heat’s first preseason game, per The Athletic’s Eric Nehm.

“I don’t care,” Thompson said. “The history books say different. If you spend too much time on social media, it will distort your whole worldview.

“That’s OK if people forgot, because the beauty of this game is you always have a chance to remind them.”

Heat veteran Klay Thompson told a great story about Giannis Antetokounmpo: one about humility amid the ups and downs of an NBA season. How the two battled while playing for teams they once thought they’d spend their careers with. Both were named among the top 75 players in NBA history, an honor Thompson will never forget.

“I don’t want to get emotional, but that meant a lot to me,” Thompson said. “To be one of the 75 best players ever and not to be bitter in a moment where your team loses, and I have a great game and to just give me those props, that made me look at him in a different light.

“Like, man, this guy is genuinely a great human being, and that really meant a lot to me when he gave me props for coming back from what I did. So now, to be his teammate is just awesome.”

Now, Thompson can’t wait to show the world what he and Antetokounmpo can do together this season in Miami.
