Amid his first season with the Golden State Warriors, Yaxel Lendeborg is already getting plenty of guidance from Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. But being a rookie on a team that has a legendary shooter like Curry, he is not completely comfortable approaching NBA veterans yet.

Speaking about his early experience with Golden State, Lendeborg revealed that he recently reached out to Curry and Green for advice but remains a little “scared” to talk to them at times.

“At the last game, I texted Steph and Draymond both, you know, just to ask for some advice and some guidance after the first game. Especially for me, just getting over the fact that I'm with NBA players every single day and I have like access to talk to them whenever I want. That's something that I had to definitely get over with right away.

"After last game I texted Steph and Draymond both… but I'm still kind of a little scared to talk to these guys sometimes because of who they are."

“I'm still kind of a little like scared to talk with these guys sometimes, tell who they are, but I mean, other than that, man, this is very fun, being able to communicate and share our connections with each other,” the Dominican player added.

Curry and Green have already taken an active role in helping the rookie understand what is expected of him.

That guidance appeared to pay off Tuesday when Lendeborg finished with 17 points and nine rebounds in Golden State's 124-98 preseason win over the Los Angeles Lakers. He attacked the basket more aggressively and knocked down 2-of-3 attempts from beyond the arc.

Additionally, when he was recently asked about his rookie duties, the Warriors' young forward had an honest reply.

“Nah man I'm tired. I'm already tired of doing them. I gotta do it, you know? I can't be one of those arrogant rookies thinking they're better than they are,” he said.

Additionally, the Bay Area rookie has also won praise for his court vision from Green. The dominant power forward compared one part of his game to Jimmy Butler. However, the veteran has encouraged the rookie to become more aggressive when his scoring opportunities appear.
