Anthony Davis calls cap on Lakers ex-coach’s LeBron James allegation
Although Washington Wizards’ Anthony Davis is one of LeBron James’ best teammates throughout the future Hall of Famer’s career, a former Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach explained why the two never worked out together. However, Davis is saying that wasn’t the case. Houston Rockets color commentator Ryan Hollins, who was an assistant coach for the Lakers during the 2019-20 season, said early-morning workouts were the reason James rarely worked out with AD.
“You’ve got to get up a little earlier to work out with me,” Hollins said, which Davis replied to with a blue cap emoji on X, formerly Twitter.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Lakers defeated the Miami Heat, 4-2, in the bubble. It was James’ fourth and last championship.
Rich Paul on LeBron James’ Lakers exit ahead of 2026-27 season
Former Lakers All-Star LeBron James agreed to a two-year, $8 million contract with the 76ers this summer, ending his eight-year tenure. 76ers’ James announced his exit from the Lakers before signing with the Sixers, and his agent, Rich Paul, addressed it once it was made official.
Paul appeared to take a dig at the Lakers following James’ free-agent announcement, per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
“There’s no loyalty in business. Especially for an athlete. That’s like playing blackjack. You got both of your cards up, and the dealer is only showing you one of theirs. It’s not like, ‘I’m going to stay in here. I’m going to keep losing. I’m going to lose 20 hands in a row because I’m just loyal to you, the dealer,’” said Paul.
James will chase his fifth NBA championship with the 76ers, which would make him the first player to win titles with four different teams in league history.
