Angel Reese pulls off historic feat during Dream-Fever showdown

Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark renewed their rivalry on Thursday, as the Indiana Fever hosted the Atlanta Dream at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, attracting a crowd of over 17,000.

The Fever grabbed the win, 83-71, anchored on an impressive defense. They recorded a season-low in points allowed and improved to 5-4. The Dream, on the other hand, fell to 6-3.

For what it is worth, Reese, who reached 1,000 points on Tuesday, set a team record after finishing with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, on top of three assists and two blocks.

According to ESPN Insights, the two-time All-Star is the fastest player in team history to reach 100 points and 100 rebounds, doing it in just nine games.

The Dream acquired the 24-year-old Reese in a trade with the Chicago Sky in April in exchange for first-round picks in 2027 and 2028. She has made an immediate impact in Atlanta, displaying her hard-nosed style and fiery competitiveness.

She did not hide her dissatisfaction in Chicago, claiming that the front office was not doing anything to level up. She also questioned the Sky’s vision, forcing her way out and being shipped to the Dream.

Reese, who was drafted by the Sky as the No. 7 pick in 2023, felt reenergized after joining the Dream.

“Having a general manager that really wanted me and knew what my talents are, being able to talk to players that genuinely know what I am and who I am as a person, but also as a player, it low-key makes me emotional because I haven’t had this, and I’m really grateful,” said Reese in her introductory conference.

They Dream try to bounce back on Saturday when they host the Washington Mystics.
