Analyst gives Notre Dame top 10 offense despite losing Jeremiyah Love, Jadarian Price

Notre Dame football just missed out on the College Football Playoff last season, but that doesn’t mean that it didn’t have a CFP-caliber roster. The Irish had one of the best offenses in the country, which helped them rattle off 10 wins in a row to close the regular season after starting 0-2.

A big part of that was due to the running game. Jeremiyah Love was a Heisman Trophy contender, and Jadarian Price likely would have been more well-known as one of the best running backs in the country if he wasn’t splitting carries behind Love. However, both of them along with standout wide receiver Malachi Fields are off to the NFL, and the two running backs were the first two backs off of the board in this spring’s NFL Draft.

That isn’t deterring On3 Sports college football analyst J.D. Pickell from drinking the Notre Dame Kool-Aid. Despite the losses of some of the best weapons on the team, Pickell is ranking Notre Dame as the No. 8 offense in college football coming into the 2026 season.

A lot of that comes down to quarterback CJ Carr. Carr wasn’t asked to do too much as a freshman a season ago, but he showed poise and accuracy while continuing to improve throughout his first season as the starter in South Bend. Carr comes into the 2026 season as someone who is on the radar as a potential first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

While Carr likely won’t be able to lean on the running game to the same degree that he did last season with lover and Price gone, he still has some talented wide receivers to throw the ball to. Jordan Faison and Jaden Greathouse have plenty of continuity with Notre Dame’s system, and Quincy Porter and Mylan Graham are talented transfers. Cooper Flanagan is also a skilled tight end who can be a security blanket for Carr.

If Notre Dame’s offense indeed is one of the best in college football, Carr’s growth into a star will certainly be one of the main reasons why.
