Amon-Ra St. Brown out for blood after Lions’ disappointing 2025 season flop
The Detroit Lions had a disappointing 2025 season. Detroit finished the regular season 9-8 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2022. Now one Lions player is out for blood ahead of what should be an exciting 2026 campaign.
Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown claimed he is “motivated as ever” to help Detroit get back to the playoffs during the 2026 season.
“I’ve been excited to get back to work. I feel like last year, we had a disappointing season as a team. That’s how we feel internally. So, I’ve just been excited to get back to work,” St. Brown told ESPN’s Eric Woodyard. “I’ve been motivated as ever. I feel like I’m motivated every year, but this year, I feel like it was a little different.”
Detroit is getting ready for its upcoming voluntary offseason workout program. The first step is organized team activities, commonly called OTAs, which take place from May 27-29. That is followed by Detroit’s mandatory minicamp from June 16-17.
The Lions will need St. Brown at the height of his powers to make the playoffs in 2026. He had another incredible season in 2025, logging 117 receptions for 1,401 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
St. Brown did not participate in Detroit’s offseason program last year due to rehab following a knee surgery. So getting back into the groove this offseason was a welcome change.
“I didn’t really have an offseason the year before because I came off surgery, so to have a healthy offseason was nice for me,” St. Brown added. “Just training and getting back to work, getting back to the grind and now being back in Detroit, back with the guys, OTAs starting up. Practices about to start up. We’re all excited.”
It will be exciting to see if Detroit can fight their way back to the playoffs later this fall.
