A’ja Wilson adds to GOAT credentials with insane July numbers never seen before
The Las Vegas Aces are looking like a championship team halfway through the 2026 WNBA season. Vegas boasts a 20-8 record and is riding a two-game winning streak headed into August. One of the Aces best player could be the key to winning another championship later this fall.
Aces superstar A’ja Wilson just put together a truly incredible run during the month of July.
Wilson became the first player in WNBA history to have 25+ points per game, 50%+ field goal percentage, 45%+ 3-point percentage, and 90%+ free throw percentage in one month.
But Wilson has not just played well for just one month. She has been a dominant force throughout the entire 2026 season. Wilson is averaging 26.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game after 26 games played.
Wilson is now firmly in the GOAT conversation in the W. She gave a very honest reaction when asked how she feels about that label in a recent interview.
“Crazy…you think about so many people that have been on this list of GOATs and I just wouldn’t imagine my name being on it at this point of my career,” Wilson said on Thursday via ESPN. “I still got so much to do, I still have to keep going, I want more. So when people say it, I’m like, thanks, but what?”
The Aces have a great chance to repeat as WNBA champions with Wilson playing at such a high level.
“It really comes down to the little things,” Wilson said via WNBA Center with Holly Rowe on July 24th. “we can pinpoint the little things…for us, our defense, it can help figure out a lot more problems…this second half of the season we should start being locked into it.”
Next up for the Aces is a road game against the Sky. That contest tips off at 1PM ET on August 1st from Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
