Rockets’ Tari Eason asks for DV restraining order against ex after punch, bleach allegations

In response to Houston Rockets star Tari Eason allegedly being punched by his ex-girlfriend and having bleach poured on his designer clothes, he is asking for a domestic violence restraining order.

TMZ obtained the petition. He is asking for a domestic violence restraining order against someone he “used to date,” Marilyn Maritza Melo Rodriguez.

In the filing, he alleged that one of her friends called him to “tell me that she would ‘break both of my legs’ and ‘kill me.'” Eason claims the alleged threats made him fear for his life.

Additionally, Rodriguez’s mother called Eason to ask him to drive her home. After he dropped her off, a discussion turned violent with Rodriguez, who allegedly “repeatedly struck me in the face with a closed fist.”

After leaving her, Rodriguez went back to his Airbnb and took his clothes, pouring liquid bleach on them. This ruined the clothes, costing him an estimated $92,000 in loss of personal property.

Now, Eason is requesting that Rodriguez be ordered to stay away from him, his residence, his work, his car, and “any arena in California where the Rockets might play.”

Eason is heading into his fifth season in the NBA. He recently agreed to a five-year, $81.5 million contract extension with the Rockets.

He was selected with the 17th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of LSU. Eason is coming off a season where he played in 60 games, starting 34 of them. He averaged 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game in 25.8 minutes per contest.

Eason is an integral part of the Rockets’ young core. They are coming off their second straight playoff berth, once again losing in the first round. The team also includes veteran star players like Kevin Durant, Marcus Smart, and Fred VanVleet. Alperen Sengun is also a budding star on the roster.
