49ers’ Kyle Shanahan teases Nick Bosa’s return to practice ahead of Week 1

The San Francisco 49ers ended their preseason on a winning note after beating the Las Vegas Raiders, 18-12, at Allegiant Stadium on Thursday.

Coach Kyle Shanahan must be happy with their performance, which should only boost their confidence heading into the new season. But there is no time to relax for the 49ers, as they will continue to put in the work in the coming days.

San Francisco is dealing with several injuries, most notably to defensive end Nick Bosa. He has not practiced since August 3 due to soreness and tendinitis in his surgically repaired right knee.

Shanahan remained tight-lipped when he was asked about Bosa’s status, as reported by The San Francisco Standard’s David Lombardi.

“Kyle Shanahan says, ‘We’ll see how Nick Bosa does in these practices,’ so I would expect Bosa back on the field next week,” wrote Lombardi on X.

The 28-year-old Bosa was limited to only three games last season due to his ACL injury. He was having another productive campaign when disaster struck. He logged 17 total tackles, including four tackles for loss, two sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Despite the early exit of the former Defensive Player of the Year, the 49ers managed to advance to the divisional round of the playoffs, losing to the Seattle Seahawks.

Bosa has stayed optimistic amid his strenuous rehabilitation, acknowledging the process he has to go through.

“You learn something every time you do it. Every year, really, injury or not, you kind of learn how to prepare a certain way to be at your best,” said the five-time Pro Bowler.

The 49ers will face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1.
