Birmingham are still looking for their first win of the new season, having been thrashed 6-1 at home by Premier League side Brentford in the EFL Cup.

The Blues will be licking their wounds from that heavy loss, but must refocus on the league season and come up against one of their rising rivals.

While Wrexham had the week off, having exited the competition to Middlesbrough in round one.

Boss Phil Parkinson will hope home advantage and a raucous Racecourse Ground in tow can push his side over the line to their first victory of the season.

These two sides have started their Championship campaigns with a pair of draws each.

Wrexham opening two league matches have seen points shared with two 1-1 draws.

Having seen three points slip through their fingertips in the 98th minute in the Welsh derby against Cardiff. They got a point at home against Watford last time out.

Birmingham salvaged a point in the 95th minute at home to Bristol City on Saturday, which was preceded by a 0-0 draw with Sheffield Utd on opening weekend.

Both teams are desperate for their first win of the season. But that could see another draw on the cards.

Imray on the charge

Tenacious wing-back Danny Imray has been given his biggest move yet, having signed for the hugely ambitious Wrexham project.

The Crystal Palace academy graduate, has steadily progressed up the leagues with some impressive loan moves, at Bromley in 2024, before moving onto to Blackpool and West Brom.

Finding his feet in the Championship will be key, but his attacking threat could unlock a new dimension for the Welsh side to mount a serious promotion challenge.
