Lynx’s Kayla McBride reveals when she found out Olivia Miles was special
Rookie Olivia Miles has been proving to the Minnesota Lynx and the rest of the WNBA that she is the real deal.
Miles’ Lynx teammate and veteran Kayla McBride can even recall the time she was convinced that Minnesota has a special talent in the former TCU Horned Frogs star.
“I mean of course receiving behind the back and between the leg passes of course is like ‘woah,’ McBride said (h/t Andrew Dukowitz of Zone Coverage).
“But that first Washington game, we were down like 8 or 9 in the fourth quarter and she just kind of took over and I was like “oh wow this girl has it”… she wants that moment.”
Miles has been receiving rave reviews for the way she’s been performing in just her first season in the WNBA.
In fact, the 23-year-old guard is leading the best team in the league in scoring and in assists, playing an integral part in the immense success the Lynx are having in the regular season. Through 37 games played, Miles, the No. 2 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, is averaging 19.7 points and 6.2 assists, while shooting at an efficient rate of 49.2 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from behind the arc.
The Lynx, who have long clinched a ticket to the WNBA playoffs, are 31-8 through Thursday — the best record in the league by three games.
They have five games left on their schedule before the playoffs, including Sunday’s date with Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream at Gateway Center in College Park, Georgia.
