49ers’ Brandon Aiyuk calls out NFLPA’s ‘straight BS’ in latest IG rant

The Brandon Aiyuk saga keeps getting messier and messier. The Arizona State product was a success story early in his career. The former first round pick burst onto the scene after the San Francisco 49ers drafted him in the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He went for 269 receptions, 3,931 receiving yards, and 25 touchdowns over his first four seasons, oftentimes operating as the team’s top receiving threat over that time. The on-field success led to a four-year, $120 million contract in 2024.

Things haven’t been so pretty ever since. Aiyuk was limited to just seven appearances in 2024 because of a torn ACL, and the receiver missed the 2025 season in its entirety. The 49ers voided the guaranteed money in his contract last season because of a lack of participation, and he was eventually placed on the reserve/left squad list.

Aiyuk has been surrounded by trade rumors and drama ever since. The disgruntled pass catcher has been pleading for the 49ers to let him be free so he can join the Washington Commanders. He recently took to his Instagram story to place some of the blame for his problems on the NFLPA.

“When members of the union that is in place to help players is lying/withholding information from a player on behalf of the team alongside a certified agent…that’s some straight BS,” Aiyuk posted in a story with the NFLPA tagged. “Some players have no other place to go for information or help, and are relying on the union to help them continue advancing their careers and lives! I’m sure there are great members of the union, so this message does not pertain to them but about the ones in my specific case.”

Aiyuk’s complaints seem to be vague and without clear reasoning. It was just one of many online rants from Aiyuk in recent months. It is clear that a future with the 49ers is likely impossible, but it isn’t clear what Aiyuk’s football future holds.
