4-star edge picks Texas A&M over LSU, Texas, Alabama

Texas A&M football has been dominant on the college football recruiting trail. Mike Elko and the Aggies have the top class currently for the class of 2027. Texas A&M landed a 4-star edge over Alabama over the weekend.

Now, the Aggies have gotten another win over Alabama and another edge rusher, this time as their first recruit in the class of 2028, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.

Chance Archangel, a four-star edge rusher out of Louisiana, has committed to Texas A&M over Texas, LSU, and Alabama. It was the fourth recruit landed for Texas A&M since the weekend, and the first one for the class of 2028. Archangel committed during a visit to College Station over the weekend. It was at least his third visit to the school. He spoke about visiting Texas A&M in September, watching a victory for the Aggies over Auburn, according to Sam Spiegelman of Rivals.

“Everything went really well at A&M. The visit was great, the atmosphere was crazy, and I got to connect with the coaches, too. Overall, it was a really good experience,” Archangel said. “Seeing how the defense flies around and how they use their DL and how locked in the program is on competing in the SEC and putting guys in the league.”

This echoed the sentiment he had when Archangel went back to campus during spring practices. He spoke of the energy to Steve Wiltfong of On3.

“The visit to Texas A&M was great,” Archangel said following his spring visit. “I really enjoyed being in College Station. The energy around the program stood out a lot, especially the fans and how much they support the team. Getting around the coaches and seeing how they develop edge players was a big takeaway for me too.”

Texas A&M had the top class in the 2022 recruiting cycle, and is on its way to the top spot for the 2027 cycle. Now, they have made their first step towards a top class in the 2028 cycle as well.
