Yankees’ Jasson Dominguez gives ‘scary’ review to video of catch that landed him on IL

New York Yankees outfielder Jason Dominguez has been on the injured list since May 7 after crashing into the wall. Dominguez has now seen the footage that forced his shoulder injury.

The outfielder is still impressed that he was able to come away with the catch. Still, he admits the footage of his wall crash is pretty scary, via Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

“It was scary to see how I hit the wall, but I definitely watched it,” Dominguez said. “It was a great catch.”

Dominguez has been able to hit off of a batting tee, via Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News. However, the Yankees still aren’t sure exactly when he will begin a rehab assignment let alone return to the majors. New York will be paying close attention to Dominguez and his shoulder throughout his recovery process.

When healthy, the outfielder struggled to find his footing in 2026. Over his nine games, Dominguez has hit .200 with a home run and four RBIs. The Yankees are still waiting for him to fully break out. He received his biggest opportunity yet in 2025, hitting .257 with 10 home runs, 47 RBIs and 23 stolen bases over 123 games.

Still, Dominguez was once considered one of the best prospects in baseball. He was penciled in as a future building block of the Yankees. But New York still needs to see him shine at the MLB level before making that declaration.

The first order of business now is simply getting Dominguez back on the diamond. Once he progresses to full baseball activities, the Yankees will figure out their next plan of attack.
