Yankees’ Aaron Boone shares important Ben Rice injury update
New York Yankees slugger Ben Rice continues to miss time due to a hand injury. The Yankees are proceeding with caution, but Rice still may avoid a stint on the injured list. Manager Aaron Boone shared the latest update on Rice before Thursday’s game against the Texas Rangers.
“Ben Rice ‘hasn’t done a lot yet’ behind the scenes, Aaron Boone said, as he hasn’t wanted to aggravate the left hand contusion. Boone said he still doesn’t see this as an IL situation,” Bryan Hoch reported.
Rice is out of the lineup once again on Thursday. Nevertheless, he may be able to return soon since an IL stint is not expected.
Rice, 27, has enjoyed a tremendous campaign. The Yankees slugger is hitting .343/.455/.759 across 33 games played. He has recorded 12 home runs as well. Rice has been one of the better hitters in all of baseball so far in 2026.
The Yankees have found success throughout the 2026 campaign overall. At 25-12, New York holds the best record in the American League at the moment. Their success has been especially impressive given all of the injuries on the roster. Rice is currently out as mentioned, while Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon are still recovering from injuries.
This Yankees ball club looks like it could make a legitimate World Series run in 2026. With that being said, it still is only May. There is plenty of baseball left to be played this year.
The Yankees are set to host the Texas Rangers on Thursday afternoon at 12:35 PM EST.
