WWE star Nia Jax shares throwback photo from her soccer playing days

WWE Superstar Nia Jax has been a part of the WWE for several yeas now. Jax signed with the promotion in early 2014 and started on the NXT roster. Jax stayed with NXT for a couple of years before moving onto the main roster.

Apart from a small hiatus in 2021, Jax has remained a consistent part of the promotion over the last decade. A former Queen of the Ring winner and former Women’s Champion, Jax was not always a pro-wrestler.

Before becoming a pro-wrestler, Jax worked as a model and played soccer for Palomar College in San Marcos, California. Recently sharing a few photos on her social media, Jax uploaded a photo from her soccer-playing days. Considerably younger than her current age, Jax also looked completely unrecognizable in that picture.

However, Jax was not just talented in soccer. She also played basketball, where she won a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championship. Jax also played volleyball and softball. Last year, while speaking on Mo Egger Show on ESPN1530 in Cincinnati, Jax opened up about her sporting aspirations.

“I was developing, you know, a chest and she was just like, ‘I dunno if that’s a good idea for you to get in there with the pads.’ And so we ventured out. I did start playing volleyball. I got more into basketball, but I almost played football. And there were some times where I was able to tackle the boys pretty clean and I thought like, yeah, why not? Why not play?”

“I wanted to hit [the other players]. That was the fun part for me,” Jax said. “When I played soccer, I was always the top yellow card and red card girl. I would always be way more physical on the field. And that obviously, clearly led to my career now.”
