Will Levis cut by Titans after losing QB2 battle to Mitchell Trubisky

The Tennessee Titans are making a major decision at quarterback. Tennessee is waiving Will Levis, per NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

Levis has been fighting this summer to prove to the team that he should be the backup to Cam Ward. It appears he has lost that battle to Mitchell Trubisky.

The now former Titans quarterback has battled shoulder problems in his NFL career. He posted no stats during the 2025 season. During the 2024 campaign, Levis threw for 2,091 passing yards.

Levis was drafted in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He will do his best to work his way onto another NFL roster. There are squads looking for quarterback depth.

“I know from the tape out there already that I am a dang good quarterback in this league. I am even better than I ever have been,” Levis said this summer, per ESPN. “…there are not 32 quarterbacks in this league better than me. I know that for sure.”

Levis was considered a few years ago as a possible long-term fit for Tennessee, as their starting quarterback. Levis lost out on that job to Cam Ward. Ward was selected first overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.

In his NFL career, Levis has thrown for 3,899 passing yards. He has 21 career touchdown passes, and 16 interceptions. His injury issues have stunted his growth so far.

“As a rookie, Levis missed time due to an ankle injury. In 2024, he dealt with an AC joint sprain in his right throwing shoulder that forced him to miss multiple games. That same shoulder required surgery in the summer of 2025, knocking him out for the season before it began. Provided he’s healthy, Levis’ arm is a major plus as long as his decision-making is in line with it,” NFL.com reported.

During the 2025 season, the Titans struggled. Tennessee finished the year with a 3-14 record.
