What Yankees’ Cam Schlittler said after 9-strikeout performance vs. Mets
The New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets by a final score of 5-2 on Saturday. Cam Schlittler led the way on the mound by striking out nine hitters and allowing only one run across 6.2 innings of work on the mound. Schlittler addressed his performance against the Mets after the contest, via Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.
“It’s fun. I think you’re going to be a little extra locked in for situations like this,” Schlittler said. “Those don’t faze me, and I know that doesn’t faze the guys around here. There’s a lot of buzz around it. It’s a great atmosphere, and it was good to get the win.”
Schlittler has performed well in 2026. He now holds a 1.35 ERA across 10 starts. Schlittler has recorded 68 strikeouts in 60 innings of work. With a number of injuries within the Yankees’ rotation, Schlittler’s performance has been especially impactful.
The Yankees improved to 28-17 with the victory. They are two games behind the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East division standings. It has been a strong start to the new campaign for the ball club. Meanwhile, the Mets fell to 18-26 with the defeat, as they remain in last place in the National League East standings.
