World Cup fever is about to sweep England.

Thomas Tuchel is hoping to lead the Three Lions to a first major trophy in 60 years, with their last triumph coming at the 1966 World Cup.

But before a ball is kicked in anger at the tournament, the focus will be on who makes Tuchel’s squad.

Here, talkSPORT.com answers all the important questions about the announcement that will be sure to ignite plenty of heated debate across the English football community.

When will Tuchel announce the England World Cup squad?

The England squad for the World Cup will be revealed from 9:45am on Friday, May 22.

That date falls two days prior to the final day of the 2025/26 Premier League season, where all 20 teams will kick-off at 4pm.

Tuchel’s squad announcement will be aired live on talkSPORT, with Sam Matterface, Alex Crook and Gabby Agbonlahor providing reaction.

Faye Carruthers will be at Wembley and will speak to Tuchel following his 11am press conference.

Once the squad is named, supporters can hear Tuchel’s explanation for his choices via a live show from Wembley Stadium.

For this year’s tournament, Tuchel will be taking a squad of 26.

It is the same number of players who travelled to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup.

The Qatar tournament marked the first time competing nations were allowed to name 26 players to their squad, representing an increase from 23 players.

When will England’s World Cup squad first play?

Fans will get to see Tuchel’s World Cup squad in action for the first time on Saturday, June 6 as England face New Zealand in a friendly.

The match will be held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida and will kick-off at 9pm BST.

The Three Lions will continue their pre-tournament preparations on Wednesday, June 10 with a warm-up fixture against Costa Rica.

It will be held at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida with kick-off set for 9pm again.

When and where are England’s World Cup fixtures?

England will then begin their World Cup campaign on Wednesday, June 17, where they take on Croatia at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

Tuchel’s side will next face Ghana in Boston on Tuesday, June 23.

England round out their group fixtures on Saturday, June 27 in New York, where they take on Panama.

For fans who aren’t headed to the United States, they can get behind the team and enjoy a cracking atmosphere at talkSPORT’s dedicated Fan Zone.
