Now that they did not get Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks at the trade deadline, the Golden State Warriors can put that on the back burner and fully focus on the mission ahead.

The Warriors, however, were still able to make a significant move, landing Kristaps Porzingis in a deal with the Atlanta Hawks, sending Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield in return.

While Antetokounmpo could have pushed them to greater heights, coach Steve Kerr remained optimistic about their chances, although he also blurted out the harsh reality of the team.

“We still have a good team, a very good team. Even without Jimmy (Butler), we can make a playoff run. The ceiling is absolutely lower. I’m not going to sit here and lie and say we can be as good as we were with Jimmy, there’s no way,” said Kerr in a video posted by ESPN’s Anthony Slater.

Butler is out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury, while Stephen Curry is dealing with a knee issue.

“But I believe in these guys. I believe in the chemistry. I believe in the veteran leadership. We have good health, I think. We can make a really good push and be a playoff team, and when you’re a playoff team, you never know how it plays out,” added Kerr.

Amid the challenges, the 60-year-old Kerr acknowledged that they are still finding their way, but they know how to fight through adversities.

“That’s the message. Our goals haven’t changed, but we have to get through the forest right now,” noted the four-time champion coach.

The Warriors will look to snap their two-game skid on Thursday against the Phoenix Suns at Mortgage Matchup Center.
