Vikings turn to familiar face with Bills as first GM interview request

The Minnesota Vikings were not a popular team after the 2026 NFL Draft. Minnesota entered the draft with limited draft capital and unanswered questions within their front office. But the team is finally making some moves to try and find their next general manager.

The Vikings have requested to interview with Bills assistant general manager Terrance Gray, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. If the request is approved, Gray will interview for Minnesota’s vacant GM role.

Gray would be a familiar face within the Vikings organization. He spent 11 seasons as a college scout in Minnesota before leaving for Buffalo in 2017.

The Vikings have recently begun their GM search after firing Kwesi Adofo-Mensah following the 2025 season. Vikings executive Rob Brzezinski assumed the role of interim general manager through the draft. Minnesota’s owners, Mark and Zygi Wilf, released a statement on April 29th confirming the beginning of their search for a new general manager.

Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports dropped a fascinating theory just before Minnesota began their search. His sources suggested that Minnesota will not explore candidates with the same history that Adofo-Mensah brought to the table.

“Some sources feel that since Adofo-Mensah came from the 49ers and Browns and did not work out, the Vikings are unlikely to pluck from those trees this time around,” Jones wrote.

Jones also dropped a list of 14 potential candidates for the role, including both Gray and Brzezinski.

Other candidates included Chad Alexander (Chargers), Chris Blanco (Texans), Mike Bradway (Chiefs), Trey Brown (Bengals), Ryan Cowden (Patriots), Ed Dodds (Colts), Rob McCartney (Buccaneers), John McKay (Rams), Lance Newmark (Commanders), Nolan Teasley (Seahawks), Tim Terry (Chiefs), and Andy Weidl (Steelers).

It will be fascinating to see which other candidates Minnesota speaks to throughout this process.
