Tuesday horse racing tips

Royal Ascot

  • 14.30: Notable Speech 15/8 (1pt)
  • 15.05: Siouxperb 14/1 (1pt)
  • 15.40: Jakajaro 33/1 (1pt)
  • 16.20: Bow Echo 5/6 (2pts)
  • 17.00: Puturhandstogether 13/2 (1pt)

Notable Speech

Godolphin and Charlie Appleby love to target Royal Ascot – though did place third in the 2000 Guineas with Distant Storm.

Here they and of course stable jockey William Buick send out Notable Speech, the five-year-old horse with well over £2million in winnings and even more in earnings.

He bolted up to win by two lengths in the Lockinge making it three wins from his last four runs.

Placed fourth in this last year behind Docklands in a race where he had trouble and a few negatives to his run that could see him make up for this year.

Godolphin and Appleby also have the second favourite Opera Ballo though, who’s proven a consistent winner over 1m, making all to win by three lengths ahead of Field Of Gold in the bet365 mile.

Field Of Gold had bled from the nose post-race examinations confirmed and that could be a reason to not take that big distance victory with full confidence, regardless they look closely competitive.

Siouxperb

Now the Coventry Stakes is a fascinating 6f sprint, another Group contest, this time a Group 2 but for two-year-olds.

Which means there’s a big chance for upsets in this race with little room for error in these kind of sprints.

It’s also a race that sees winners often go on to big things – Gstaad won this last year before going off joint favourites in the 2000 Guineas and placing second before winning the Irish 2000 Guineas.

Could we see another Group 1 regular emerge from this race?

In the last ten renewals we’ve seen plenty of favourites win but the same amount of surprise winners: Five favourites priced under 7/2 and a whole host of outsiders with odds including 8/1, 11/1, 80/1 and 150/1.

This year it could be time for the pendulum to swing in the way of the outsiders again judging by the previous patterns and the nature of this race.

One that could go under the radar is Archie Watson’s Siouxperb. He won by four lengths ahead of O’Gorman at Yarmouth in April and that horse has since won twice in convincing style which goes to show this Sioux Nation colt could have more potential than some think.

Jakajaro

Asfoora would usually be in the front few of the betting for this race but after two disappointing starts for trainer Lemos De Souza this sprint regular is a big price.

The mare has gone back to trainer Henry Dwyer after those two runs though and could be back but is hard to have the faith in a win.

I’m looking at another big price here and that’ son Jakajaro.

The five-year-old has seemingly got back into the swing of things this season, going up 13lb since April, and even placing close in the Temple Stakes at Haydock.

Bow Echo

Clearly aimed for these 1m races and has gone four from four including three from three in Stakes races.

Looked to be even better when winning the 2000 Guineas following up a fantastic two-year-old campaign.

He beat Gstaad with ease and comes up against the same rival here and I can’t see him being beaten.

Puturhandstogether

Won the Irish Cesarewitch by half a length beating the full field of 29 rivals.

He was upped 10lb for that win and has only been seen once since on the flat, where he placed seventh at Chester in the Chester Cup, but Ascot is set to suit this horse well given his Curragh victory.
