76ers’ LeBron James co-signs Mavericks Carter’s denial of Last Dance-like documentary with ESPN

The Philadelphia 76ers are still pinching themselves after recently signing NBA legend LeBron James in free agency, weeks after trading for Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics. The moves have taken the 76ers to a new stratosphere of NBA relevance as the team looks to end its 40-plus-year championship drought.

Recently, James’ high school friend Maverick Carter responded to chatter that LeBron might follow in the footsteps of Michael Jordan by having a documentary crew follow him around this year in an attempt to produce a documentary similar to 2020’s “The Last Dance.”

“We are NOT doing anything like the ‘last dance’ LeBron doesn’t even know when his last season is,” wrote Carter on X, formerly Twitter.

James then seemingly agreed with the sentiment by retweeting Carter’s post.

While James has never exactly been bashful about seeking out attention, it doesn’t appear that a documentary about his final season, or seasons, in the league is in the cards, at least at this point.

Meanwhile, on the court, there are plenty of fascinating questions about the 76ers’ collection of talent and how they will all work together. While the 76ers have plenty of star power, they don’t have any elite three-point shooters in their starting lineup, and they also have several players who operate best as the primary initiators of the offense.

Combine that with concerns about Philadelphia’s lack of viable defenders, and it’s easy to see why not everyone is sold on them as a legit title threat despite their star power.

However, there’s no denying that James’ signing has energized the fanbase in a way that hasn’t been seen since the days of Allen Iverson.
