Eric Lauer admits his wife ‘hates’ the trade rumors
In May, pitcher Eric Lauer was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers via the Toronto Blue Jays. Now he may be on his way to another team in just a matter of months.
With the MLB Trade Deadline approaching on August 3, Lauer is reportedly being considered a trade prospect. All of which is causing a major headache for his wife Emily, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.
In the same breath, Lauer expressed hope in wanting to stay with the Dodgers.
“Oh, my wife hates it,” Lauer said. “No, I mean, it’s something that I was aware of coming over here that it might be like a rental thing…See a need, fill a need kind of thing. But I mean, I love it here. I think I’m thriving here, as far as I can tell.”

Lauer notched a win against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, 4-2. He pitched 6 innings and recorded four strikeouts. Lauer is 6-5 with a 4.54 ERA and 56 strikeouts.
He rebounded after a sluggish start with the Blue Jays, where he went 1-5 with a 6.69 ERA and eight appearances.
Meanwhile, Dodgers aces Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow are making their way back into the rotation after injuries. Thereby limiting Lauer’s presence. At the same time, Lauer is playing out a one-year, $4.4 million contract that expires at the end of the season.
As a result, he is an attractive low-cost prospect. The Cleveland Guardians have been mentioned as a possible destination for Lauer to boost their pitching.
Lauer and Emily have a son together.
