Brawl Stars Sam Guide – Best Gadgets, Star Powers, & More

In this Brawl Stars Sam guide, we’ll take a look at his attacks, stats, and skills and create the best build possible. Sam is a close-range brawler with a powerful Super that lets him navigate maps very quickly. Without further ado, let’s take a look at Sam.

Brawl Stars Sam Guide – Attacks & Stats Per Level

Sam wears a pair of Knuckle Busters on his arms at the start of each match. Essentially, he deals more damage with his main attack if he’s wearing them. Conversely, he deals less damage without them. They also play a role in his Super, which we’ll now dive into.

Sam’s Main Attack, Heavy Haymakers, is a close-range, piercing attack in which he throws two punches in a cone-shaped direction. With his Knuckle Busters, Sam deals more damage per punch in a wider range. But without his Knuckle Busters, Sam is able to attack quicker and reload faster at the cost of less damage and slightly less range.

Furthermore, Sam’s Super, Knuckle Busters, works in two ways:

  • If Sam has his Knuckle Busters – Sam throws his Knuckle Busters over a long distance, damaging and piercing enemies on the way.
    • Additionally, Sam gains extra movement speed briefly.
  • Without the Knuckle Busters – Sam’s Knuckle Busters return to him, piercing enemies and even moving past environments to get back to Sam.
    • However, it deals less damage than when you threw the Busters.

Lastly, Sam’s Hypercharge, Hyper Fist, makes his Knuckle Buster’s move faster during his Super. Furthermore, they also fully charge your Super if it hits an enemy during the Hypercharge.

Sam possesses a trait that grants him a fully charged Super at the beginning of a match.

Firstly let’s look at Sams stats (stats of July 2026, all stats subject to change).

Brawl Stars Sam Guide – Which Star Powers & Gadgets are the best?

Overall, Sam has two gadgets:

  • Magnetic Field – “While the Knuckle Busters are on the ground, Sam can activate them to pull in nearby enemies.”
  • Pulse Repellent – “Upon landing on the ground, Sam’s next deployed Knuckle Busters releases an electric pulse that knocks back enemies.”

Additionally, Sam has two Star Powers:

  • Hearty Recovery – “Upon recalling his Knuckle Busters, Sam instantly recovers a portion of his missing health.”
  • Remote Charge – “While the Knuckle Busters are on the ground and near enemies, they will charge up Sam’s Super.”

Furthermore, Sam can use the following gears in battle:

  • Speed
  • Vision
  • Health
  • Shield
  • Damage
  • Gadget Cooldown

*We are not including any Epic or Mythic Gears in any of these guides. Supercell plans to remove all of them in future updates.

Brawl Stars Sam Guide – Recommended Star Power, Gadget, & Gear Setup

Firstly, for Gadgets, Magnetic Field often feels like the better choice. Because Sam is a close-range brawler, you ideally want to pull enemies towards the Knuckle Busters as you approach them. This gives you access to your Busters, pulls in your enemies, and gives you a chance to wipe them out. In some cases, players have even managed to pull enemies with the gadget, then use their Super to recover the Busters and damage the enemies.

Secondly, for Star Powers, Hearty Recovery is the better option. Sam has a lot of HP, but he still needs to heal. Using Hearty Recovery can help Sam survive close encounters as he deals damage while recovering health.

Lastly, for Gears, we recommend a Damage and Shield Gear. Overall, we usually recommend these gears for most brawlers since they provide offensive and defensive boosts.

Brawl Stars – Which Modes Should You Use Sam in (And Which Modes You Shouldn’t)

Solo/Duo/Trio Showdown

Overall, Sam’s piercing attack makes it easy for him to destroy boxes and navigate the map quickly. Whether he’s with a teammate or by himself, he’s also bulky enough to take a few hits. But try not to spam his Knuckle Busters recklessly. Try to be conscious where and when you launch your KBs.

Brawl Ball

Sam’s Speed from using his Super and high HP makes it easy for him to move down the field. Furthermore, he can recover some HP with Hearty Recovery as he gets his Busters back. Conversely, if he uses his super when carrying the ball, he won’t actually lose his busters when going for the charged up pass.

Heist

Sam can deal a lot of damage to the Heist. With his piercing attack, he can damage both enemies and the safe, letting him charge his Super. Then, he can use his Super, damage the safe some more, and pick it up to recover his HP with Hearty Recovery. Overall, he’s a tough target to take down in Heist.

Hot Zone

Sam can reach the Hot Zone pretty quickly, thanks to his Super being fully charged at the beginning. While he may struggle in taking down enemies inside the zone, he’ll have no trouble taking the zone itself over. Furthermore, he can use Magnetic Field to pull in any enemies trying to escape or reach the zone.

Brawl Stars Sam Guide – What Mode(s) Should I NOT Use Sam In?

Bounty/Knockout/Wipeout

Overall, Sam may find himself struggling in these modes. Even with his Super, many brawlers possess methods of pushing him away, stunning him, or knocking him back. However, he’s slightly better a knockout, since he’s the one of the only brawlers with a charged Super in the beginning.

Overall, that wraps up our Brawl Stars Sam Guide!
