Trent Alexander-Arnold overlooked as Thomas Tuchel names Tino Livramento’s England replacement
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s England absence has continued despite an injury to right-back Tino Livramento.
The Newcastle United defender has been ruled out of the World Cup.

However, Thomas Tuchel has once again overlooked Alexander-Arnold with Trevoh Chalobah named as Livramento’s replacement.
The Three Lions boss is permitted to name an injury replacement from his 55-man preliminary squad up to 24 hours before their opening match.
Chalobah will head to North America to join the rest of the England squad after they face Croatia.
Their opening match on Wednesday in Dallas kicks off at 9pm, live on talkSPORT.
Alexander-Arnold snubbed
The decision to replace Livramento with Chalobah leaves Reece James as the only recognised right-back in the 26-man squad.
A host of players have experience in the position, though, including Jarell Quansah, Ezri Konsa, John Stones and Djed Spence.
Meanwhile, Chalobah made one appearance at right-back for Chelsea last season.
None of those options boast the expertise in the role of Alexander-Arnold, however, who is understood to have been in the initial 55-man pool.
The 27-year-old is fresh from his debut season at Real Madrid after joining from Liverpool last summer.
He has also scored four goals in 34 caps for England as well as featuring at the last two World Cups and Euro 2024.

However, Alexander-Arnold has lost his place in the national side during Tuchel’s tenure.
His last appearance came against Andorra in June last year, with the full-back not included in a squad since by the Three Lions boss.
It comes despite Tuchel naming a larger 35-man squad for the friendlies against Uruguay and Japan in March.
The manager later revealed he had not spoken to Alexander-Arnold after leaving him out.
When asked if he had done so at the time, Tuchel told talkSPORT: “Not yet.”
After being further probed as to whether the 27-year-old’s international career could be over, he added: “I don’t know.”

Alexander-Arnold’s England career
Since his last England cap, Alexander-Arnold has made 35 appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid.
The former Liverpool man also featured in four of their seven matches as they reached the final of Euro 2024.
Those included a cameo off the bench in the quarter-finals against Switzerland, with Alexander-Arnold scoring the winning penalty in the shootout.
Of his outings in Germany two years ago, three came in central midfield under Gareth Southgate.
Alexander-Arnold returned to right-back under interim boss Lee Carsley after the tournament, with Tuchel also deploying him in his natural position against Andorra last summer.
