Yankees rumors: New York is ‘everywhere’ before MLB trade deadline

With the New York Yankees having work to do ahead of the trade deadline on Monday, there is a good amount of needs to address, especially with the team dealing with injuries to Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Giancarlo Stanton. As rumors will continue for the Yankees ahead of Monday’s trade deadline, this MLB insider gives insight into how the team is moving.

Speaking on “The Pat McAfee Show,” ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan said that New York is “everywhere right now” regarding the trade market, as the focus is looking for catchers, relief pitchers, and hitters.

“They understand that that lineup that they have right now is not going to be the sort of thing that can win playoff games,” Passan said. “Now, granted, they’re going to have Cody Bellinger back. They’re in…all likelihood, they expect to have Aaron Judge back. They hope to have Giancarlo Stanton back.”

“So this isn’t quite the same, but they know they need a catcher,” Passan continued. “They could, you know, they keep getting tied to Luis Arraez. I’m not sure where the fit is there because he wants to play second base. He’s insisting on playing second base, and we’ve seen Jazz Chisholm at third, and it’s probably not going to work. And yet, the DH slot could be open for a rise right now. The Yankees are going to be busy.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen what the full haul for the Yankees looks like ahead of Monday’s trade deadline and if they address all the needs that the team needs to fill. Subsequently, New York is 61-48, which puts them second in the AL East, ahead of Friday’s start to the series against the Chicago Cubs.
