Analyst makes shocking Jaguars Super Bowl LXI pick ahead of 2026-27 season
The Jacksonville Jaguars have plenty of believers entering the 2026 season, but Peter Schrager may have set the bar higher than anyone else. During Friday’s appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Schrager revealed his early AFC prediction.

“I’m excited for the Jacksonville Jaguars. They might be my early AFC Super Bowl pick.”
It’s a bold statement considering the AFC is loaded with contenders, but Jacksonville has given analysts plenty of reasons for optimism.
The Jaguars captured the AFC South last season and nearly knocked off the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs, proving they can compete with the conference’s elite. Now, they’re hoping that experience serves as the foundation for an even deeper postseason run.
Everything starts with Trevor Lawrence. If the former No. 1 overall pick takes another step as one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks, Jacksonville has the talent to make life difficult for every opponent on its schedule. The Jaguars also welcome back a healthy Travis Hunter, giving the team another dynamic playmaker capable of changing games on both sides of the ball (primarily defense).
The roster isn’t without changes. Jacksonville moved on from Travis Etienne Jr. and Devin Lloyd, but much of last year’s core remains intact. That continuity could be a major advantage for a team looking to build on last season’s success instead of starting over.
The biggest challenge may be surviving the AFC South.
With all four teams capable of competing for the division crown, Jacksonville won’t have an easy path to another title. But there’s another way to look at it: if the Jaguars emerge on top again, they’ll likely be one of the NFL’s most battle-tested teams entering the postseason.
Schrager’s prediction may surprise some fans, but the ingredients are there. A franchise quarterback, a talented roster, playoff experience, and a healthy Travis Hunter give Jacksonville legitimate reason to believe 2026 could be the year it finally breaks through as an AFC powerhouse.
