Thunder’s Jared McCain reveals what Spurs players said to him after hard foul that sparked Wemby ‘hit’ allegations

The Oklahoma City Thunder are in the driver’s seat going into Game 6 after taking a 3-2 lead against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5. The Thunder had control for most of the game, and now they have a chance to close out the series when they head back on the road.

In the closing moments of Game 5, it felt as if the Spurs were trying to send a message, and Jared McCain was fouled hard twice by Bismack Biyombo and Mason Plumlee.

McCain shared after the game in an interview what the Spurs told him after one of the fouls.

“Yeah, that was crazy. I didn’t expect it,” McCain said. “We were at the free-throw line, and I was like, ‘Why’d you do that, man?’ He was like, ‘I got another one for you too.’

“It’s all competition, but gotta respect it. My team told me after to just get to the corner at the end of the game.”

Good thing that the Thunder let McCain know to steer clear of any more contact throughout the game, because he could’ve gotten hurt.

Some fans think that Victor Wembanyama was the person who ordered the hits on McCain, as he was seen whispering something to Biyombo and Plumlee before he was subbed out. It’s honestly uncertain what Wembanyama said to them, and people are just speculating at this point.

If the Spurs were actually trying to play mind games, the Thunder might not be the team to do it with. They’ve been in these situations before, and they may be one of the more even-keeled teams in the league. The only thing they’re going to do is play their game and do what they need to in order to close out the series.

As for the Spurs, they’re going to need a sense of urgency coming into Game 6 if they want to extend the series.
