Thunder’s Alex Caruso makes LeBron James admission before Game 2
Ahead of Game 2 between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Los Angeles Lakers, the former is trying to prevent superstar LeBron James and Los Angeles from stealing a game on the road. While the Thunder look to sweep the Lakers, guard Alex Caruso speaks on preparing for a player like James.
It has been James’ team with Luka Doncic still missing time and Austin Reaves still trying to find a groove, but time is running out when facing a team like Oklahoma City. Caruso has familiarity playing with James when he was with the Lakers from 2017 to 2021, and spoke about the difference in preparing for him instead of with him.
“Yeah, it’s different,” Caruso said, according to Michael Martin. “You know, just knowing and understanding that he’s always ready for the moment. Everyone likes to talk about his age, but it’s still LeBron James. He’s very capable of being the best player on the court any given night, you know, that he’s playing the game, so just having that respect for him, and then understanding that he’s very smart, and he uses the game to his advantage a lot, with putting guys in position to create advantage and then take away advantage on the other end.”
I asked Alex Caruso what it's like preparing with LeBron James for the playoffs vs. preparing for LeBron on the other team, like he has to do now.

In the Thunder’s 108-90 win over the Lakers, James would record a game-high 28 points on 12 of 17 shooting from the field, including three of six from deep, to go along with six assists and four rebounds. Caruso and a stacked Oklahoma City team look to maintain James and Los Angeles with Game 2 happening on Thursday night.
Thursday is a prime opportunity for the Thunder to get a commanding 2-0 lead ahead of two road games in Los Angeles, where the Lakers look for life in the series as Game 3 will be on Saturday.
