Thunder fan panic meter as OKC struggles to get offense going vs. Spurs

The Oklahoma City Thunder walked into a sea of blue in the pivotal Game 7. Their fans filled the Paycom Center hoping to see an NBA Finals return. OKC even delivered a big lineup change involving Cason Wallace before facing the San Antonio Spurs.

The fans’ panic meter briefly went up, though.

Oklahoma City fell behind early 18-8, which featured two viscous throwdowns. One coming from Stephon Castle in fierce second chance fashion:

Again, OKC looked like it was about to get ran out of the arena. Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints started sensing it even with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the florr.

“This is the exact Thunder offense that got blown out in the second half of Game 6. No shot creation or playmaking ability outside of SGA,” Siegel posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

Damien Peters of Yahoo! Sports became another feeling uneasy about the Thunder.

“This early deficit for the Thunder has to feel larger than it is for a team that’s struggled to consistently generate high quality offense against this defense,” Peters posted.

Tom Petrini of San Antonio Spurs on SI (Sports Illustrated) even caught the body language and displeasure from the OKC fans.

“Spurs start out 18-8 and this Thunder crowd is a mixture of anxious and stunned 4 steals for San Antonio already, no turnovers, 2-4 from 3 and the Thunder haven’t hit from outside yet,” Petrini shared online.

The Thunder, however, eased the tensions from their fans. Especially in needing SGA and Chet Holmgren needing to step up along with Lu Dort.

OKC erased a 14-point deficit and briefly led 51-49 to get the crowd on its feet. But San Antonio leads 56-53 at halftime.
