The real reason Travis Kelce wasn’t with Taylor Swift at Toy Story 5 premiere

Some fans might’ve noticed that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce didn’t accompany Taylor Swift to the Toy Story 5 premiere on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, but there might’ve been a good reason for this.

While Swift was walking the red carpet, her fiancé was at the Chiefs’ mandatory minicamp, which goes from June 9 to 11. The Chiefs’ social media team even posted a video of the tight end at work.

The couple is in one of the busiest stretches of their lives. Reports indicate that they’re getting married in July, which is just a few weeks away.

Kelce is also getting ready for his 14th season in the NFL. He decided to return to the team for at least one more year, re-signing with the Chiefs. Their 2025 campaign was especially disappointing, perhaps explaining his desire to return.

Taylor Swift’s role in Toy Story 5

After months of speculation, it was revealed that Swift had composed a song for the Toy Story 5 soundtrack titled “I Knew It, I Knew You.”

The song was released on June 5, two weeks before Toy Story 5’s theatrical release. It marked her reunion with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff.

This is Swift’s first contribution to a soundtrack since “Carolina,” which was recorded for the 2022 movie adaptation of Where the Crawdads Sing.

The teasers for Swift’s involvement in Toy Story 5 began when a countdown appeared on her website. It featured blue skies and white clouds, similar to the wallpaper in Andy’s bedroom.

However, one of the co-directors, Andrew Stanton, seemingly poured cold water on the rumors, saying, “It surprised us. We’d be freakin’ honored. The sad truth is we watched the movie being mixed last week, and the song on the end of that was not [a] Taylor Swift song.”

Even the cast didn’t know that she was part of the soundtrack. Tom Hanks revealed that the cast didn’t know until the song dropped.
