Colts add last-minute OL depth to active roster before Week 1 vs. Ravens

The Indianapolis Colts are making some final adjustments before their highly anticipated Week 1 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Indianapolis announced Tuesday that offensive tackle Luke Tenuta has been signed from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. To create room, the Colts waived cornerback Jaylon Jones. The team also signed tight end Kenny Fletcher Jr. to the practice squad.

They are not eye-opening moves, but adding another offensive tackle before facing Baltimore certainly makes sense. Luke Tenuta was a 6th-round pick out of Virginia Tech in 2022. Keeping Daniel Jones protected will be one of Indianapolis’ biggest priorities Sunday, especially considering what its quarterback is returning from. You never know if he will need to play.

Tenuta has played for the Bills, Cardinals, and Packers as well as the Colts in his three-year career.

Jones suffered a torn Achilles in December, prematurely ending what had been an impressive first season with the Colts. He completed 68 percent of his passes for 3,101 yards and 19 touchdowns while leading Indianapolis to an 8-5 record before the injury.

The Colts collapsed without him, losing their final seven games and missing the postseason. Now, Jones is back. Indianapolis also expects No. 1 receiver Alec Pierce to play after his own offseason ankle surgery, giving Jones another important weapon alongside Keenan Allen, Josh Downs, and Tyler Warren.

Baltimore begins a new era under Jesse Minter with Lamar Jackson still leading the offense. Indianapolis, meanwhile, gets another opportunity to show that last season’s impressive start wasn’t a fluke before Jones went down.
