The NHL’s 2 top-selling playoff jerseys will surprise you

The NHL playoffs bring renewed interest every year to cities and teams that have missed postseason excitement in previous years. This is definitely the case in Philadelphia where the Flyers have returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2020.

The reinstatement to the Stanley Cup playoffs have seen the Flyers continue the late-season surge that allowed them to gain a spot in the postseason in the first place. Philadelphia has gotten off to a sensational start in their playoff series against the cross-state rival Pittsburgh Penguins. The Flyers have jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the series and have a chance to close out the Penguins at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia on Saturday (8 p.m. ET; HBO MAX, SN-PIT, truTV, TBS, NBCSP, SN, TVAS).

The Flyers fans have been active with their credit cards, and they have been buying jersey replicas of their favorite players. Youngster Porter Martone’s jersey, with his No. 94 emblazoned on the shoulders and the back, is the league’s top seller. Teammate Trevor Zegras, who wears the No. 46, is right behind in sales.

Martone has been something of a phenom for the Flyers since joining the team after a brilliant college career at Michigan State. He scored 4 goals and 6 assists in nine regular-season games and he has also scored 2 goals and added 1 assist in three playoff games.

The numbers have gone through the roof as Martone’s jersey sales have increased 1,714 percent since the start of the playoffs, according to NHL.com.

In addition to Flyers jerseys, Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres have also been moving quite briskly since
April 18.
