The next trade Bucks must make after sending Giannis Antetokounmpo to Heat

It’s the end of an era in Milwaukee. After a lengthy search, the Milwaukee Bucks have traded long-time star Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. After the Greek star grew more and more discontent over the course of last season, the front office decided that the best course of action was to trade their star. That way, Milwaukee would still recoup some value to kickstart their rebuild.

The Bucks did get a fairly decent haul for Giannis, getting Tyler Herro as well as young stars Jaime Jaquez Jr and Kel’El Ware. They also got three first-round picks, including the 13th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft happening today. In addition, they were also able to offload Bobby Portis’ contract along with Giannis. That being said, the Bucks may not be done making moves this offseason.

There are a lot of paths that Milwaukee can take after trading Giannis Antetokounmpo. Let’s look at one potential trade they can explore.

Myles Turner next on the trade block for the Bucks

One of the next moves that some are advocating the Bucks to go for is to trade Herro. While it’s an idea worth considering, there’s also a good argument to be made that Milwaukee should keep the ex-Heat guard. While he hasn’t been the player the Heat envisioned him to be, there’s still some upside to the guard that they may be able to maximize. Keeping him for one more year could, at the very least, raise his trade value further.

Meanwhile, there’s another incumbent player who is already drawing interest from a former rival of theirs. Myles Turner joined the Bucks in the past offseason. According to the ex-Indiana Pacers center, he wanted to contend for a title with Giannis and co. However, things did not go according to plan, as injuries and poor play led to a dismal season from Milwaukee.

Turner himself did not play well last season. Despite playing in 71 games, Turner averaged a measly 11.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting just 44% from the field. His three-point shooting (38.3%) and blocks (1.6) were still up to par, for the most part. However, with the Bucks likely pivoting into a deep rebuild, Turner might be better off on a contending team.

There’s already a team interested in trading for Turner: the Toronto Raptors are rumored to be in the running to trade for the sweet-shooting center. There’s definitely interest amongst contending teams for one of the more underrated stretch bigs in the league who’s still able to protect the rim at a high level. The Bucks also cleared a ton of cap space with the Giannis trade, allowing them to take on a big contract (say, Jakob Poetl’s mega-deal) in exchange for some picks.

Will the Raptors part ways with a first-rounder for Turner? That’s the best case scenario, but even snagging a couple of second-rounders will be a win for the Bucks. Let’s see if Milwaukee decides to keep the center or if his time with the team will end much earlier than expected.
