The Masters quintuple bogey explosion that held up leaders on Amen Corner
Sunday at the Masters is often a place for brilliant shots and, sometimes, incredible collapses. Haotong Li was not going to win the Masters, but he had a chance to earn an invite back to Augusta National, headed to the 13th hole. Playing alongside Scottie Scheffler, Li made a quintuple-bogey 10, holding up the leaders and exploding out of contention.
If you were curious what happened to Haotong Li, here's where he played his fifth shot on 13.

Li had a great tournament going before Sunday, firing a 71 on Thursday before matching 69s. Paired with Scheffler, he shot even par on the front nine to stick around the top-12, which is the cut-off line for an invite next year. Li made a six on the par-three 12th before the ten, causing a massive delay among the leaders.
Scheffler stood over both a chip shot and a putt for a long time, so much so that CBS Sports broadcaster Andrew Catalon made note of the wait. Catalon also reported that Li hit a putt into the tributary of Rae’s Creek that runs in front of the green. Scheffler missed a birdie putt that would have put him one shot back of the lead, finishing a disappointing week at the famed 13th.
As Li was rummaging around in the pine straw, Rory McIlroy extended his lead to two shots with the closest approach of the day on the 12th hole. Justin Rose was among those held up by Li’s disaster on 13, and he three-putt that hole to leave with a par. After today, no one will remember that Li was a part of this Masters. But he may impact the winner more than we realize.
Will McIlroy win his second straight Masters? Or will someone chase him down?
