Texas QB Arch Manning drops ‘surprised’ take on ex-roommate’s Oklahoma move

Arch Manning was just as surprised as everyone else when former receiver Parker Livingstone left Texas for Oklahoma in the college football transfer portal.

Manning and Livingstone were notoriously close friends and roommates during the 2025 season, a trivial fact broadcasters often mentioned when the two connected on a pass. Despite that connection, Manning was seemingly left unaware of Livingstone’s intentions until after the move was official.

“I was a little surprised, but Parker’s a good guy,” Manning said, via Evan Vieth of On3 Sports. “He’s got a good family. Obviously, we were roommates, so I wish him all the best. Can’t say I would have done the same thing, but I wish him all the best, except when we play them.”

Livingstone played a modest role in 2025, catching 29 passes for 516 receiving yards and six touchdowns. However, his chemistry with Manning likely set him up for an increased role in 2026, even with the Longhorns adding star wideout Cam Coleman in the portal.

In addition to his relationship with Manning, Livingstone, a native of Lucas, Texas, seemed like a Longhorn for life after growing up in the Dallas area. To transfer to the school’s archrival after just one season in Austin was certainly not what anyone expected at the end of the 2025 season.

While losing Livingstone was a personal blow for Manning, Texas’ receiving corps will still be much better in 2026 than it was in 2025. The Longhorns boast arguably the best pass-catching group in the country with leading wideout Ryan Wingo returning to form an elite tandem with Coleman and budding star Emmett Mosley V.
