Taylor Hall, Hurricanes use historic 4-goal comeback to force Game 3 overtime vs. VGK
Just when it seemed as though the Carolina Hurricanes were down and out against the Vegas Golden Knights, they roared back to life with a historic three-goal blitz in a record amount of time – only 39 seconds.
The Hurricanes entered the third period trailing the Golden Knights by a 4-0 score thanks to a hat trick from Mitch Marner along with a power play tally from Tomas Hertl. Goaltender Frederik Andersen was pulled, and it seemed as though Carolina was headed for a blowout loss. However, the Hurricanes began quickly turning the tables.
First, a wide-open Jordan Martinook took the puck in front of the net and beat sprawling goaltender Carter Hart blocker side, giving the Hurricanes some life with their first goal of the game. And just 26 seconds later, Taylor Hall cut the Vegas lead in half, taking a pass from Sebastian Aho and slipping the puck past Hart following a defensive miscue by the Golden Knights.
Finally, Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal scored his third goal in as many games just 13 seconds later with another deflection past Hart in a similar manner to how he scored in Game 2.

The Hurricanes suddenly were back to within a goal, and their three goals in 39 seconds were the three fastest tallies ever in a Stanley Cup Playoff series. Up until Saturday, the Montreal Canadiens had held the mark for the three fastest goals in Cup Final history, doing so in 56 seconds back in 1954.
And finally, the Hurricanes tied the score with less than two minutes left in regulation, marking the first four-goal comeback in Cup history.
