Does Rams’ Sean McVay have a sense if Aaron Donald will play in Week 1?

With the Los Angeles Rams entering Week 1, Aaron Donald’s status still remains unclear. He came out of retirement to join the team; however, his final status for the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers remains to be finalized.

However, head coach Sean McVay recently addressed whether he has any sense of Donald playing in the Rams’ first game of the season.

“This week will be a big week for him in terms of how he feels,” he said during a conversation with 95.7 The Game. “We’ll take it a day at a time and see where he’s at. If he feels good enough to go, great. If not, I have a lot of confidence in the other guys that’ll be ready to step up if that’s the case, who have really gotten all the reps anyways.”

With the game taking place in Australia, Donald’s status for the 49ers game will also depend on whether he travels with the team. Even if he misses the game, he will still have a chance to return to the football field against the New York Giants.

Additionally, former Rams running back Todd Gurley recently shared his confident take on Donald’s status for the game.

“I think he will play. But I think it may be somewhat limited. I think they’ll slowly ramp him back up. But I hope he plays, man, mostly for the international crowd. You have a lot of people over there,” he said via California Post’s Michael Duarte.

That being said, while the team’s reported plan is to play him “30-40 snaps per game,” Donald is most likely to suit up sooner rather than later for the Rams.
