Stalemates have been commonplace for both Petrojet and El Gounah in the Egyptian top tier this season.

In the regular season both clubs managed to end level in 10 of their 20 league games as they finished mid-table to ensure they moved to the second tier post-split.

Since then, Petrojet have drawn five of 12 to sit third in the 14-team relegation group, while El Gounah have added a further six stalemates in 12 games to take up mid-pack residence again in eighth.

It ended 1-1 when they last met in the round seven of the regular season and these draw specialists may well produce another deadlock now.

The basement clubs in the Egyptian Premier League meet at Ismailia Sports Stadium as Miloud Hamdi’s host Pharco FC.

The home side propped up the regular season table with just 11 points from 20 games, four less than Pharco gathered.

They’ve continued in a similar vein post-split, with just one win each from 12 matches.

Four of the eight previous clashes have ended level, including three scoreless draws and only one team has scored in the other four games, with no more than two goals in any of the eight tussles.

Between them they have mustered just eight goals across their 12 games played since the split and this could be a grinding stalemate.

Torreense to beat Casa Pia, Chrobry Glogow to beat LKS Lodz & EC Vitoria to beat ABC Natal

Second division side Torreense kick off their promotion/relegation playoff second leg against Casa Pia flying on the crest of a wave after they shocked holders Sporting Lisbon to win the Portuguese Cup at the weekend.

Cape Verde defender Stopira scored the winner from the spot in extra-time after Sporting went down to 10 men, giving a first major trophy in their 109-year history to Torreense. 

The prospect of Europa League football next season for the team from Torres Vedras, a town 25 miles north of Lisbon, with a stadium that holds around 2,500 spectators.

They eliminated Casa Pia in the last-16 of that cup run at their Rio Maior home and can repeat the feat now to secure promotion.

Chrobry Glogow are also aiming for promotion in Poland as they face LKS Lodz in a semi-final. Chrobry won both league meetings this season, 2-1 at home and 3-1 away, and can continue that trend now.

In Brazil’s Copa do Nordeste, Vitoria travel to ABC Natal with a 6-2 lead from the first leg.

ABC twice led in that contest but had two men sent off and the Serie D side may come unstuck chasing the game back on their own patch.
