talkSPORT betting tips – Bet builder bets and expert advice on Everton vs Liverpool

Everton will hope to add to Liverpool’s misery this week when the two rivals meet in the first Merseyside derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday.

The Reds come into the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, which saw them eliminated from the competition.

To make matters worse, striker Hugo Ekitike ruptured his Achilles tendon during that contest and Liverpool look like they already want to start afresh next season.

Arne Slot’s side are still in the top five and will look to finish there to secure a Champions League spot for next season, but Everton are only five points behind and are sure to relish their first derby at their new home.

Toffees forward to maintain his purple patch

Everton have struggled for goals all season and David Moyes’ side have only netted 39 times in 32 games. None of their current squad have reached double figures for the season, but striker Beto has that target in his sights.

He has eight to his name, and three of those goals have come in his last two appearances. Beto netted twice against Chelsea in the 3-0 win and once in the 2-2 draw with Brentford and he will look to maintain his form against Liverpool’s uncertain defence.

The Reds have conceded two or more goals in three consecutive games and not kept a clean sheet in six away matches.

Close encounter expected between two rivals

Everton have the 14th-best home record in the Premier League and Moyes’ side have only scored 21 goals at home. Only Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Wolves, Burnley and Tottenham have scored fewer in front of their own fans.

Liverpool have only managed to win six of their 16 league games away from Anfield and with no Ekitike and Alexander Isak trying to work his way back to full fitness, it is hard to see Liverpool scoring after a bad result in midweek.

Toffees good value for home success

Overall, Everton have been second best in most Merseyside derbies in the last decade, but at home, they fare much better.

Those games were all at Goodison Park so it will be interesting to see if they can immediately make things difficult for the Reds at the new venue.

Moyes’s men have won their last two home matches, keeping clean sheets against Chelsea and Burnley, and they will be eager to pile the misery on Slot’s side.

Liverpool beat Fulham 2-0 last week to boost their top-five hopes but they have lost five of their last six away games.
